This year will mark the 90th anniversary of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade, so you can bet that it's bound to be even more of a nightmare than ever.
From 9 a.m. until 12 p.m., basically prime travel time, of course, every New Yorker knows that there is no escaping the parade, there is only futile trying before crying in traffic. But we must try.
Sure, you can take these instructions as a way to find the parade, if you're in that spirit, but we're just gonna assume that the majority of you don't mind looking at the big *ss Hello Kitty balloon from your TV, and just want to go on your way as painlessly as possible.
There are two important things to note when avoiding any NYC parade and that's where the streets are gonna be closed and where the parade will be headed.
The Macy's parade spans 2.5 miles– it begins at Central Park West and 77th Street, stays from 81st Street to 59th Street (Columbus Circle), turns down Broadway to 58th Street, then 59th Street between Columbus Circle and 6th Avenue, and down 6th Avenue between 59th Street and 34th to the Macy's.
So if you can, maybe just don't go anywhere midtown? Like, at all?
If your Turkey Day plans necessitate otherwise, then make sure to note the following street closures, as reported by Curbed NY:

6th Avenue between 59th Street and 34th Street
