Taco Tuesday! 8 Spots to Drown Your Sorrows & Eat Your Feelings This Election Day

Remember in The LEGO Movie how TACO Tuesday was supposed to be the end of the world? And remember how this Tuesday is election day? See the connection?

No matter who wins, it's safe to say this presidential election cycle has been a shit show. But, as New Yorkers, we're pretty good when it comes to getting through anything.

How do we get over skyrocketing rent, roaches, and rats? We eat and drink our feelings of course.

This Tuesday, forget your troubles and the impending doom of our country at some of the best places in NYC for tacos and tequila.

1. The Grayson (16 1st Avenue)

The Grayson may appear to a typical American sports bar, but that doesn’t mean it can’t serve up something caliente.

Their Tuesday special includes $2 tacos, $2 shots of Jose Cuervo, and $6 margaritas. There are TVs everywhere so it might be a bit hard to ignore the impending doom of the country, but tequila heals all.

2. Juquila Mexican Cuisine (40-12 83rd Street - Queens)

This place doesn’t have a specific Taco Tuesday special, but that’s only because they believe the party never stops.

This hidden treasure over in Elmhurst has an authentic vibe, huge portions, and most importantly, cheap alcohol and $3 tacos– all the time!

3. Tortilleria Mexicana Los Hermanos (271 Starr Street)

Here’s another super authentic spot for some banging tacos.

This family-owned tortilla factory may not look like much but with $2.50 tacos and pictures of quinceaneras adorning the walls, you can’t go wrong. The best part? It’s BYOB. If tequila isn’t your thing, grab a bottle of whatever pairs well with your tears.

4. Tacos El Bronco II (White Plains Road & Lydig Avenue - the Bronx)

This may just be a truck and not a restaurant, but hear me out: the tacos are just. Too. Good.

At $1.75 each, your stomach and wallet will thank you for these authentic bites with the best green sauce. The truck doesn’t sell alcohol, but that just means another BYOB opportunity. Score!

5. Maya New York (1191 First Avenue)

huangst

$2 tacos from 5 p.m on, $7 tacos and, oh yeah, almost a hundred different types of tequila! The food is great, but the real star of the show is the drinks. The tequila menu is exptensive, and happy hour features $7 margaritas!

This place will quickly become your go-to.

6. The Junction (329 Lexington Avenue)

Another sports bar, but this one is close enough to Grand Central that you can hop on a train and escape the city before some post-election riots ensue. With 2 for $5 tacos, $4 tequila shots, and $5 margs, it’s more lit than the LCD screens on the walls.

7. Locksmith Bar (4463 Broadway)

Fort George is a trek, but it’s definitely worth it.

This locksmith-turned-bar is better known as a burger joint, but on Tuesdays they offers $4 tacos, $3 shots of Jose Cuervo, and $6 margaritas.

8. Agozar Cuban Restaurant (324 Bowery)

This place proves that tacos aren’t just for Mexican restaurants and gastropubs. $3 tacos all night, 2-for-1 happy hour drinks, and even spicy tequila infused with jalepeno and pineapple. Yum!
