What is it? It's a festival honoring Japanese culture amid rows of beautiful, blooming cherry blossom branches. 

Whether you're headed out to see samurai sword presentations, cosplay, tea ceremonies, or simply to check out the plant life, it's the perfect outdoor date to begin the month of May.


Five Boro Craft Beer Festival (272 Meserole Street - Brooklyn)

This year marks the 10th Annual Japan Day @ Central Park. Japan Day falls on Mother's Day, so instead of taking her out to brunch like you've done every other year, take her for a stroll through Central Park. 

Apart from the beautiful scenery, they'll be plenty of shows honoring Japanese culture, including Japanese Taiko drumming, Karate demonstrations, Okinawan Dances, and Taisan Tanaka, or Japanese-style painting.
